EXIM Thailand Advances Blue Economy and ESG-Driven Business Development
Dr. Rak Vorrakitpokatorn, President of Export-Import Bank of Thailand (EXIM Thailand), together with Mr. Ukkrit Satapoomin, Director of Marine Resources Conservation Division, Department of Marine and Coastal Resources, Ministry of Natural Resource and Environment; Mr. Pej Prapakittikun, Director of Sustainism Project; Mr. Patarapol Tularak, Secretary of the Solid Waste Management Association of Thailand; and Ms. Siriporn Sriram, Managing Director and Co-Founder of Blue Renaissance Co., Ltd. and the 30x30 Thailand Coalition, a national biodiversity conservation network, as well as executives from public and private sector partners, jointly presided over the opening ceremony of the “Blue Economy & Biodiversity Forum” at EXIM Thailand’s Head Office on November 21, 2024. The forum aimed to empower Thai entrepreneurs to evaluate and align their business practices with ESG principles, in accordance with FTSE Russell’s sustainability standards. The initiative supports the elevation of Thai businesses to international standards while promoting marine conservation and sustainable development.
During the event, EXIM Thailand delivered a special lecture and shared knowledge on financing and funding opportunities for businesses involved in the conservation of marine and coastal resources throughout the supply chain, from upstream to downstream, under its role as a Green Development Bank. The Bank reaffirmed its commitment to increase the proportion of sustainable financing from around 38% at present to 50% of its total loan portfolio by 2027, as well as to achieve carbon neutrality by 2027 and net-zero emissions by 2050.
