Mr. Pisit Serewiwattana (left), President of Export-Import Bank of Thailand (EXIM Thailand), recently paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Souphan Keomixay (right), Minister of Planning and Investment (MPI), Lao PDR, at MPI, Vientiane, Lao PDR to discuss EXIM Thailand’s plan and preparation for the establishment of a representative office in Vientiane, Lao PDR by 2017 to promote and support Thai-Lao trade and investment. Thailand is the second largest investor in Lao PDR, after China. Important industries attracting foreign direct investment in Lao PDR include electrical power, mining, agriculture and agro-industries, construction and services. Currently, EXIM Thailand’s financial support extended to important projects in Lao PDR accounted for over 19,500 million baht.
